How Hydrogen Generation Works

Hydrogen-generation

The Hydrogen generation process:
  • The de-ionised or distilled water from the water tank is separated into its 2 component gases Hydrogen and Oxygen.
  • This process is done by the Hydrogen generator. The Oxygen produced is vented off into the atmosphere. The pure Hydrogen gas is then stripped of any water moisture before it is sent to the internal combustion engine air intake manifold.
  • The amount of "On-demand" hydrogen required by the engine is controlled by the patented Hydrogen Control Unit (HCU).
  • The HCU constantly monitors and regulates the production of Hydrogen to suit the demands of the engine.
  • The Hydrogen gas produced is then injected in to the engine air intake manifold in the correct proportions.
  • Typically, Heavy Goods Vehicle customers or operators can achieve fuel savings in the range of 8-15% depending on the type of engines and work load patterns.
How does it save fuel and money?
  • Hydrogen is a very flammable gas and only small amount of hydrogen is required to produce the catalytic effect of better combustion.
  • When it is injected into the internal combustion engine, it increases the flammability of the normal fuel air mixture.
  • As the fuel in the engine cylinder is now more flammable, it burns more efficiently and produces more torque. Over time, this translates to lower fuel consumption.
  • This cleaner and better combustion of the fuel means that you get more energy out of the fuel that you are burning.
What can you expect to see
  • Improved fuel efficiency - uses less fuel for each journey
  • Lower exhaust emissions - sees reductions in harmful gases from the engine (NOX/CO/CO2/PM)
  • Increased power & torque  - get the same power output using less accelerator / throttle
  • Reduced fuel costs - Save up to 15% in fuel consumption using only distilled water

What is different about the Easi-Hydrogenator

  • The generation of Hydrogen is done in a different way using Space Age technology. It does not use the traditional electrolysis method to produce the hydrogen/Oxygen gases like most other systems that are available in the market today.
  • No chemicals are required for the Easi-Hydrogenator to work, ONLY de-ionised or distilled water.
  • Normal electrolysis system is prone to overheating and may need to stop the Hydrogen generation process for it to cool down.  This can lead to failure or breakdown of the Hydrogen Generator.
  • The generation of Hydrogen from the Easi-Hydrogenator is almost instant and does not need any "start up time" before the gas can be injected into the air intake of the engine. Our system only injects Hydrogen gas into the engine with the oxygen generated from the process being vented off into the atmosphere.
  • The Easi-Hydrogenator is a true "On-demand" Hydrogen generator. It only generates what the engine requires and varies all the time whilst the vehicle engine is running.
  • Some other systems in the market generate Hydrogen at their maximum volume constantly all the time irrespective of whether the engine RPM is high or low and engine load requirements.
  • If the engine starts & stops frequently, the Easi-Hydrogenator will also stop and start without delays unlike most systems already in the market today.
  • An in-cab display shows how much Hydrogen is generated by the unit with various alarm alerts for over-pressure in the pipe system, water tank low or water stripper tank full.
  • Easi-Hydrogenator is one of the most compact design in the market place today and the 12 Litre tank can supply "On-demand" hydrogen for between 4-6 weeks depending on the operational mileages or patterns.

Is it safe to mount the Easi-Hydrogenator to the vehicle as Hydrogen gas is a very combustible gas ?

The Easi-Hydrogenator is designed using space age technology and does not require the build up of pressure inside the cell before deliverying the Hydrogen gas and hence its compact design. There is no storage of Hydrogen gas inside the unit other than the small amount of gas in the small pipe leading to the air intake manifold. In the unfortunate event that the vehicle is involved in an accident on the road, there will be no gas explosion because Easi-Hydrogenator does not store any hydrogen on board.

What vehicles can I use it on?

  • The Easi-Hydrogentor has been designed for the commercial diesel engine vehicles. Currently this is for the Heavy Goods Vehicle market only. The Unit for the Van and smaller trucks will be available at a later date.
  • It will work on any diesel engine or any internal combustion engine using hydrocarbon fuels. So it will work on trains, boats and static internal combustion engines.
  • For example diesel, petrol, and also gases such as propane and natural gas engines will benefit from the Easi-Hydrogenator.

How do I know whether the Easi-Hydrogenator works or not ?

  • A lot of fuel saving device companies or suppliers make claims of fuel savings arbitarily or without being able to prove to the customer accurately the fuel savings that can be achieved or if any.
  • Btrack is a company that specialises in designing and supplying accurate fuel measuring systems in the UK for over 15 years using the very accurate Swiss made diesel flowmeters with accuracy of greater than 99%. These flowmeters are used by most major European and US truck manufacturers. See http://www.btrack.co.uk/products/bluebox.html for more details about our accurate diesel flowmeters. There are a lot of the fuel monitoring systems currently in the market that use the vehicle engine CANBUS to get the fuel consumption data. The CANBUS inaccuracy could be anything up to 10% inaccurate. Thus if you are looking to save fuel of say 5-10%, and you are using the CANBUS to monitor the fuel savings, then the chances are that you may not be able to evaluate the device properly.
  • For customers who want to evaluate or trial our Easi-Hydrogenator product, we usually recommend the installation of our accurate Swiss made diesel flowmeter and our GPRS data logger called the Bluebox to transmit fuel consumption data collected to our internet reporting system. If the customer pays for the Easi-Hydrogenator, Btrack will normally provide the Fuel Monitoring system free of charge excluding installation costs for a test period of up to 3 months. Customers can log into our internet reporting system to see the performance of their Hydrogen Injection test vehicle "Live".
  • Sample reports that can be obtained from our Internet Reporting system can be viewed by clicking the following links. There are more reports that can be obtained from the Btrack Internet reporting system for monitoring large fleet of vehicles and drivers.
